What’s the weather like in Britain?

The weather in Britain can change from one minute to the next. If the sun is shining when you leave the house, by lunchtime it could be raining!

Why do people talk about British humour?

The British are very proud of their sense of humour and enjoy laughing at themselves as well as funny or uncomfortable situations. Humour is part of everyday conversation, not just when telling jokes. The British sense of humour can be sarcastic and it may contain lots of word games. If someone you are talking to is laughing and you don’t understand the jokes just ask, they will be happy to explain and share their humour with you. Meal times and food

What’s the food like in Britain?  

In Britain for breakfast most people have cereals, toast, tea and juice. But you can try something more traditional such as porridge. Breakfast is a fast informal meal where you are not served a plate or dish or food. The typical ‘full English’ breakfast is contains fried eggs, sausages, beans, fried bread and bacon!

 

Lunch is between midday and one o’clock, as British people do not normally go home for lunch a sandwich or packed lunch is eaten at school or at work.

 

Dinner is the main meal of the day; dinner is a home-cooked meal eaten at home with your family, dinner is normally served at around 6 o’clock in the evening.

How does traffic work in Britain?

In Britain cars drive on the left-hand side of the road, always cross the road at the traffic lights and take care to look both ways before crossing, you could be on a one-way street so make sure no cars are coming from either direction.
